Rewind roughly 30 years and The Little Card Factory is already taking shape! From her early childhood, Emma Kong – creator and owner – was encouraged by her artistic mum to colour, cut, stick, draw and paint beautiful handmade cards for friends and family, securing herself the appropriate nickname: ‘my little card factory’.

Born in the UK, Emma followed her creative passion, studying art through college and university, later transferring her Visual Arts Degree to New Zealand. Having totally fallen in love with the country, Emma graduated in Auckland and made the permanent move to become a NZ resident. Unable to leave her creative side behind, her sketches and doodles eventually made their way back onto cards, as The Little Card Factory began to re-emerge.

After purchasing a typewriter on Trademe, Emma’s ideas started to become reality in the form of 7 card designs, which she then took to Crafternoon Tea in 2011. Nearly 10 years on, her British accent may have disappeared but her passion for cards certainly hasn’t. The endearing stick figures and heart-warming messages of these little brown squares have made them an undeniable hit across New Zealand and beyond. As loveable as they are unique, it’s a challenge not to smile while having a browse of these adorable designs.
